Live in the Sunshine, swim the sea and drink the wild air.
- Ralph Emerson
In a world where we feel torn between the various roles we play in your lives and there always seems to be somewhere we need to be or someone we need to be doing something for it is not surprising that there is a growing need for re-prioritising our self care.
What is Self Care
Looking after ourselves really should be a priority given that without looking after ourselves we not only lack the ability, energy and physically capacity to support those we care about but not looking after ourselves can lead us down a steep path towards longer term more chronic and debilitating health conditions including unwanted weight gain, low energy levels, depression, fatigues, sleep problems, low self worth just to mention a few.
I recognise when I begin to come unstuck as I feel drained and emotional, I become forgetful and worry over things that would not normally effect me. Ideally if I catch this in time I pull back and create space for myself to re-set and prioritise what's really important to me.
This is very easy to say and not so easy to do. It can help to recognise that by pulling back a little temporarily to take care of yourself you can slingshot back into a more productive and healthy existence.
How do you look after yourself? Everyone has their own list of things that bring them back into balance and they are usually simple things that when applied to our life bring it back into balance. Here are a few that you might be missing right now.
