Preparation for a program is key to starting out strong. With everything organised you are more likely to embrace Monday with a sense of readiness. In this post I will cover a few areas of preparation that spending some time on now, will serve you well so that you can hit the ground with a gentle, calm ease to begin your RESET on Monday morning.
Complete your Questionnaire and make sure you have enough daily tracker sheets for your week ahead. Find some space to be on your own and really invest time to write about your purpose for committing to this and the outcomes that you desire to achieve. Setting out with the end in mind will assist you in re-focusing during those moments of doubt. Whenever doubt comes up for you over the coming weeks you can re-read your purpose and remind yourself why you started in the first place. Why are you really doing this and how your life might be different after 30 days or sticking to a wellbeing plan?
What would it feel like to have a clear head when you wake up without the coffee or the hangover?
How would it feel to have sustained energy all day and be able to accomplish everything you set out to do with ease?
What would it be like to experience high-quality sound restful and rejuvenating sleep at night?
How will you feel when you are really absorbing all your nutrients and performing at an optimal level?
Something that is not often talked about when people commit to a serious change in their health habits is the effect it can have on your emotions. While the outcome can be a beautifully uplifted calm state in which you handle stress well and are more attuned to your emotions there is a path that takes you from where you are now to that state and along the way you may experience some fluctuating emotional days. Planning your management strategy now will assist you to move through these emotions with grace and acceptance and learn and grow from the experience.
If you were to have a day where you were feeling really drained and low on energy. What is your management strategy? How will this effect your mood and what are you going to do about it? What steps will you put in place for self-care on these days and can you boost yourself with some additional support from the people you love and others on the program who may be going through a similar experience.
You know yourself better than anyone so it is time to reflect on what you might have experienced in the past when you have made changes in your life and choose now how you would like to manage this time.
The fun part. Time to get all your healthy food ready for a week to keep your energy levels sustained and avoid any unnecessary energy lows. It is completely normal to feel a little lethargic if you are doing a complete cleanse and really important that you are gentle with yourself (particularly in this initial stage). Depending on your goals, you will organise your snacks to meet your energy demands and it is important that you remember that the focus here is not to starve your body in any way but to fuel yourself with nutrient dense snacks.
