Silly Season is fast approaching and for many the diary is about to fill up with numerous events that involve lots of finger food eating in excess and an abundance of alcohol and all round good cheer. Everyone begins a period of living in the moment of indulgence and taking most things to excess. You might replace your training sessions for after work catch ups with friends and sleep off the hangover the next morning to get the energy to do it all over again for the next couple of months.
While it is great idea at the time and there seems to be every excuse to treat your body badly.
"Christmas time only comes once a year!"
"I have events that I can't not attend",
"I don't want to be the odd one out not enjoying themselves".
"I can always be healthy in January."
But how are you going to feel when you finally reach the tail-end of the silly season? How does it feel to wake up with a hangover on a daily basis? What are actually doing to your internal system?
If each year you get to December 31st with a chronic hangover, fatigue, poor sleep, indigestion and a few too many dress / shirt sizes larger then perhaps NOW is a good time to prepare your body properly for this years ambush of invites and make a commitment to a healthier more vital body.
A lot of people feel that if they were to make changes too close to party season then they would struggle with obligations to participate in excess drinking and eating (who's running your body?). I am now half way through my own cleanse and not only do I have more energy than I have in a long time, I am sleeping better (this is huge for a Mum with a child that doesn't sleep so well) and I have clearer focus and concentration. When I started this cleanse deep down I knew I was ready to make some big shifts in my habits. I had convinced myself that they "Weren't that bad." "I needed coffee if my days were starrting at 4am without a great sleep and continuing on through 'til late to get everything I needs to accomplish in.
